Some argue that freeware have a larger possibility of being badly written, though some will tell you that some freeware are worth trying. You’d need to do a little analysis to get a good and free registry cleaner.

There are standalone registry cleaners, and there are those that come in utility programs. Which is better? Again, it is dependent on who you ask. If you just need a registry cleaner, then you can just get a standalone program. On the other hand, if you need to have a complete set of maintenance programs for your P.C, then you can get a regular utility suite.

Back up your registry. Registry cleaners typically include backing up your PC Registry. To be on the safe side though, be absolutely sure to form a back up by hand. In case something goes wrong, it’d be straightforward to get your registry back to a previous state.
